Welcome to the UCSF Cochlear Implant Center
Cochlear implants are designed to provide useful hearing to adults and children with significant hearing loss who are unable to receive benefit from hearing aids. UCSF has been involved in the development and application of electrical stimulation of the auditory nerve to restore hearing for more than 35 years. Today more than 100,000 children and adults around the world have received cochlear implants. We invite you to explore this website to learn how cochlear implants can help you or someone you know suffering from severe to profound hearing loss.
